Fps problems with high specs.

Dear members of the Dolphin community,



As the title says I'm having some issues with FPS. My frames per second are excessively low on a majority of the games I try to play
even tho I have way more than the specs recommended. After a few attempts I tried messing with the settings and even watched a few tutorials
on how to fix this but so far I've had no luck.An example of games that won't play correctly is ""Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance & Mortal Kombat Deception""
I would also like to add that for some reason on these games I have the exact same FPS as one of my friends who has an outdated computer compared to mine.

I'm currently running these games on Dolphin 3.5-367 (x64)


And here are my specs:
OS:Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T (6 CPUs), @ ~2.6GHz
Memory: 12Gb DDR3
Graphic Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2Gb)

My friend specs:
OS:Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: i3 530 @ 2.93Ghz
Memory: 6GB DDR3
Graphic Card: Ati Radeon HD4350 (512mb)

There's your problem. That isn't high specs, that's actually rather low for Dolphin. Ditto on your friend's PC. I don't know how demanding those games are, but apparently your system isn't enough. Try overclocking.

*sigh*. That's really old. Get Dolphin from the official site. The latest as of this writing is 3.5-1368.

No offence but either your knowledge in processors is not so high OR dolphin only runs on a single CPU
because last I checked a Phenom II X6 should be widely enough to run these even tho it is 2.6Ghz (Ghz arn't the only thing important about cpu's).
Again no mean to disrespect but overclocking is rather useless knowing that I already tried doing so and it didn't change my fps.
And for the version of Dolphin thanks I'll check this out now but I actually downloaded it from the official site the version on the front page at the top is the one I downloaded.

Checked where? Anyone here would tell you that 2.6ghz on a Phenom is going to have some limitations in Dolphin. Dolphin is not a PC game; it is an emulator. Emulation is highly dependent on IPC (instructions per cycle) and clockspeed, so more gigahertz and faster architectures is much more important than the number of cores you have.

Then you're doing it wrong. Overclocking is the biggest single thing you can do to improve Dolphin performance without getting new hardware, for the reasons stated above.

Most Phenom users i know will disagree with you
I gain huge speed up after overclocking (2.6GHz -> 3.9GHz) . You need to do 400MHz OC or higher

No ... Dolphin is a dual core application which is require high CPU frequency and good micro-achitecture
Even if your had Phenom II x100 (100 cores) , your FPS would still stay the same

Not to be rude but both of them are outdated . Your friend CPU should perform a bit better than yours (i3 has higher IPC than Core 2 duo/2 Quad and Core 2 duo/2 Quad has higher IPC than Phenom xII but your Phenom has more than 4 cores -> Your Phenom will gain 10-20% speed from background processing)

What speed do you get? Give us a few examples and let's see if it's amazingly low or if it's what you could expect.

How did you check? I'd like you to fully and completely explain to me the process that you went through to verify that your processor running at that speed should be enough.

And I do not mean any disrespect to you when I say that if you've overclocked and didn't see better results, that you have no idea what you're doing.

No, you think you've downloaded it from the official site. When you come to a forum and ask for help, you should at least click on the new links that were provided to you, then you would have noticed pretty quickly that you were indeed on the wrong site originally.

Several times during this thread you were told correct information and yet you choose to think that you know better, so I have to wonder why you would even bother posting here since you obviously have all of the answers already? If someone tells you something, you're probably just going to ignore what they say and continue to think that you're correct, so why should anyone waste anymore time talking to you?
