Four Swords Controller Disconnect

Hello folks,
i got four swords running WITH GBAs to play with Multiplayer but the Problem is, that the game show a "Player 1 was disconnected" screen after some minutes...too bad in Story mode, that the Game sends you back to the main menu.
Tried to higher the VBA-M Link Timeout number (so hoping it would wait a bit longer if there is a loss in connection). But no change :/
Dolphin used: r7234
VBA-M: SVN 947
OS: Win 7 64 SP1
CPU: i5 2500k 3,3
GPU: Geforce 460 GTX
Ram 8GB@1333

make sure vba-m isn't skipping frames or frequently dropping below 98% emulation speed.
