Forum Rules Question -- MD5s?

Hello,

I have a question regarding the forum rules. I have recently dumped a game that is not in any Wii checksum database (that is, Redump and TOSEC.) I would like to be able to verify that my dump is OK.

I know that the forum rules prohibit talking about ROMs. However, I would like to ask if it is OK to post and ask for posts regarding MD5 or SHA-1 checksums for a particular game, in the interest of finding out whether a dump is good or not?

Thanks, and I hope not to have validated any rules in this post. (It's kind of a fight club-ish situation, really) Big Grin

That's fine. There are rules and "ROM" is stated in those rules, but that doesn't mean that there are no legitimate reasons to talk about game files. I'd say as long as the thread stays on-topic and doesn't get into the ugly side of "ROM" talk, it'd be okay. You might be better off just asking your question in the official game thread here instead of creating a thread just for that (if your game is on the list).

Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1)
RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333

Thanks! I will do that.

I figured it wouldn't be a big deal, but I've never been a big fan of the old adage, "It's better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission." Wink
