I've been playing games on Dolphin for a while, and recently I noticed that playing a game at a different speed in my current version (5.0-1828) also adjusts the pitch of the sound. After looking around for a solution, I've found that this was an intentional change to fix audio garbling upon speed up.

I distinctly remember playing my games on an old version where the audio was mostly fine upon speed change. I would much prefer to play games with the standard pitched audio, even if it did get a bit garbled. Is there a way to revert these changes, or, alternatively, do you know which version implemented this change so I can revert to the version before that?

The obvious answer here is to just not play the game at a different speed and keep it running full-speed all the time Tongue

On a serious note, are you experiencing slowdowns with Dolphin?
Is this happening in 5.0-1828, the latest dev build, stable 5.0, or all of them?
Is this restricted to specific games?

I'm experiencing a bit of slowdown, but nothing major, just my computer being a little old and the games having certain spots with lots of objects in them and stuff. I do occasionally have a weird bug where some games have twice as much VPS as FPS, but it doesn't seem to be something worth worrying about.

Mostly I just want to speed up past boring parts. Especially in RPGs and stuff where you have to backtrack through easy areas. But when I do that all the audio gets too high pitched and weird.

Having twice as many VPS as FPS is not a bug; some games only run at 30FPS, but there will always be 60VPS unless you're using a code to speed the game up.

If you are setting the framelimit to a speed different from the game's running speed, you will either get pitch changes, or crackling. So Dolphin changes the pitch!

The recently added Audio Stretching may help with this, but I'm not sure. Try it in the latest dev builds if you want to play with it.

Or unless you have 50 VPS Wink

It will. With audio stretching, the pitch is always correct, even if the speed is too slow or too fast.

Ah, there we go. That's what I was looking for. It just wasn't in the version I was using.

Thanks.
