A while back I solved the Pikmin 2 credits crash issue, I thought I'd share
the solution with everyone. This is very easy to do.
NOTE: This does not only work with Dolphin, but also works with burning a backup of the game
to play on a Wii via GameCube Backup Launcher.

Things You Will Need:
GameCube Pikmin 2 ISO/IMG (Obviously)
GC-Tool (This program allows you to edit ISOs of games.
IMGBurn - To burn the game for use with GameCube Backup Launcher on the Wii. (Optional)
THPPlay - To play back the cutscenes so you know where they are in the game.

Step 1:
Unzip/Open the program, then browse for and open the .iso/img of your copy of Pikmin 2.
Note: If the program doesn't see the game, try selecting 'All Files' in the Browse window,
or renaming the game to '.img'.

Step 2:
Expand the category 'GCRoot' on the right pane of the window. Then expand the folder 'thp'.
After that, you should see a list of .thp files. THP is Nintendo's video files in games. Since it
freezes at the credits video, this is what we need to edit.

Find the THP file called 'staffroll.thp'. Extract this file. Then, you can open it up with THPPlay to
view the credits. (Right click extracted THP, Open With..., browse for THPPlay.exe.)

Step 3:
Now, extract a few other THP files to find one you'd like to replace the credits with. I used the Louie's Dark Secret cutscene.
Extract your selected THP, then right click on the staffroll thp, and click 'Replace File...'. Browse for the other cutscene you have selected and the program should replace the Staffroll with that cutscene.
NOTE: When you get a message asking you if you would like to edit the TOC, click yes!
Another Note: I advise against using the intro scene, since that one also freezes/crashes the game.

Step 4:
You're done! Click File>Close GC-ISO, then exit the program. You can now burn the ISO with IMGBurn by
opening up IMGBurn, clicking the top-left option ('Write image file to disk'), or play the ISO in Dolphin.
Note: This method can be used for any other cutscene in the game, including the Intro.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment below and I will answer them as soon as possible.

You know how I solved this issue?

By dumping my own copy instead of using a pirated copy.

Not even kidding. The issue's specific to a pirate dump of the game.

I'm not trying to be a smart a-s or anything, but wouldn't a pirated copy of a dump be identical (or close to it)? I don't understand how it wouldn't work just because the copy was pirated unless of course the dump was bad to begin with. I don't know much about that type of thing so I don't want to be talking out of my butt however I am was just curious Tongue.

Disclaimer: no I don't pirate, but I do know my way around the block.

Pirated copies seem to have a greater tendency to be inaccurate dumps, in that the dump is not a byte-for-byte 1:1 copy of the data on the disc (anecdotal evidence based on what I seen here on this forum).

However, it's also possible to get a bad dump from your own disc and not know that it isn't 100% correct. Most people dump once, run it in an emulator, and if it's works it works; they don't care about disc integrity at that point. I have tons of PS1 games on my HDD that I've never even thought to verify through MD5 hashes, simply because they play alright so far without issues (though one day I should check them).

The rules are pretty simple. Unless someone says or provides clear evidence that they pirated a game (which imo that's not the case here), we don't go on witch hunts, much less trade accusations. If you think someone has pirated, report them; PM a mod or admin if you feel it's warranted.

I believe this is an issue with the Backup Launcher itself playing backed up/burned games, since it is listed on the Backup Launcher compatibility list:

@AwesomeMarioFan - That's exactly why we don't want people accusing others of piracy; mix-ups with legit users happen (btw, my post was aimed at pauldacheez, I'm not saying you've done anything wrong here, in case I seemed that way to you)

At any rate, any further talk about piracy in this thread is off-topic as far as I'm concerned. AwesomeMarioFan found a workaround to a known issue, so stick to that subject.

I also never said anything about using a pirated game for the above method, or stated that it was tested.
It doesn't take rocket science to figure out that switching a game cutscene could fix a problem.

Edit: Oh never seen your above post.

I didn't mean to accuse anyone either – I honestly don't like seeing people get banned – but on weekends the quality of my thoughts and words just goes to shit due to lack of medication. v_v;
