Finding a new desktop (Advice)

First off do you have a specific need for i7 procs (i.e. hyperthreading)? Such as video streaming, encoding, etc? Otherwise get an i5 max, because games don't benefit from hyperthreading. Also a useful tool to use is http://www.choosemypc.net. It'll help give you a baseline idea of what to pick up at any budget.
