Hello everyone, I had a question about debug menus in games. I know some are accessed with cheat codes, and on some occasions can be found through simple button presses during a game's menu. I was wondering how one would go about finding a debug menu in a game and making it accessible through cheats?
Specifically I was planning to start with Ribbit King. There are some action replay cheat codes for items and score modifications/having characters, but nothing noted for a debug menu. There were some things in game I was hoping to figure out (Like seeing if a certain character can be made available since it is in the data, what a texture/models filename might be, etc.) and I assume the debug menu might show these kinds of things. Going through the filesystem with dolphin, it seems there is not much to work with (looks only like music/video files? Or is there an encrypted filetype I'm overlooking in here that would house model data?)
So as a complete newbie to any sort of debug/coding/hex code/whatever any of this is, does anyone at least have a guide to point me in the right direction to figuring out something like this?
Am I misunderstanding debug menus entirely? Is there an easier way to get what I'm looking for? Should I try reaching out to a developer of the game to see if there is even a debug menu left in the final release version of the game?
Any insight is incredibly appreciated! I would love to be able to dig deeper into my favorite, more obscure games for filenames, unused content, etc.
