Here, it's the only accepted way. The very oldest GBA systems available just turned 12 years old earlier this year. Simply because they're "old" to you (profile claims you're 15) doesn't mean it's some sort of ancient, unobtainable hardware. What's more, it's possible to dump the GBA BIOS using a DS (ones with a GBA cartridge port that is) so you have at least 2 generations worth of hardware to choose from.
@OP - For the GBA <-> GCN connection to work (between VBAM and Dolphin respectively), you do in fact need the GBA BIOS. There are plenty of legal methods to get them (google around and you'll see). As I said before, you'll have the option of using various GBA and DS models to do the dumping on. If you've never owned either one of those systems, I'd advise you buy one of them (or both), and not just for the BIOS (hint: the many great games on these handhelds).
