Can you use .iso files for Wii games on dolphin because I tried and it just showed up a black screen. Does it only support .wad files?

Yes, you can use ISO files. If you're getting a black screen, you probably have a bad dump of the game. Instructions for how to dump games properly are available here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Ripping_Games

Yes, .iso is probably the most common way to save GC/Wii games.

I tried another game and it has a GameCube icon next to it and gives me a black screen again.
