You would also be updating ridiculously frequently if it just updated whenever there was a new version. Realistically, you'd only want to update when a somewhat large feature or fix got merged. But couldn't part of the bisecting tool be used as a base for this? I don't know how it gets its information, but given that it can download a specific revision of Dolphin, my naive guess would be that with some modification it could also be used to get the latest revision.

No. The issue is writing the actual update feature client side. It's far from trivial. Checking for updates and downloading an update package is trivial, applying the update is tricky.

We'd also likely want to move to a 3 phase system: dev (getting updates for each new dev build), testing (once a month, synced with progress report) and stable (no auto update, notification if a new version has been released).

Couldn't Dolphin just close itself and then just run the installer like you would if you downloaded the update manually?

this may seem weird but can dolphin run gb,gbc,gba,ds games in the near future??

it was like dolphin all in one nintendo emulator..

That isn't going to have any significant effect on RAM usage... And besides, the RAM usage is almost never a problem for emulation.

Not happening unless somebody has a clear plan to implement it in an easily maintainable fashion and actually maintain it.
