Dolphin already supports netplay (wii isn't supported on 5.0 however, you'll need to use that latest for that and it doesn't work very well afaik).

Wii online isn't super great on some games (like SSBB) and emulating a local player means more options and more games that can use online. Emulating local multiplayer is possible when all players are using Dolphin, but not when any players are using Wiis. On the other hand, for games that have built-in online/LAN modes, those modes can be played between Dolphin and Wii if you manage to set it up correctly. The problem isn't Wii, the problem is Wii Remotes. 09-24-2016, 01:32 AM

I'm asking if it is possible to allow a real Wii to play "netplay". I know it's not currently a feature. I'm asking how feasible it would be to make it a feature. 09-24-2016, 01:40 AM

Anyway, this isn't really a Dolphin feature request, it's more of a Wii feature request. 09-24-2016, 04:31 AM

Actually, I saw a video a while back where some people had managed to get something akin to netplay working on two real Wiis, but it only worked for a single game, and required quite a bit of work both synchronising RNG functions, and controller input. They said it should be gradually adapted to work with more games, but as I've heard nothing further from it, I'm assuming the project is dead.

It does sound reasonable that you can get it working with enough game-specific hacks.
