I don't know if this is technically possible, but it would be damn awesome if I could connect several GBA's to the WiiU adapter and play multiplayer games (such as Zelda: Four Swords) using a real GBA. Has someone investigated this before?

I tried this, but the GBA wouldn't boot. Either the Joyboot code doesn't work yet on the adapter, or it is actually impossible

The GC controller adapter for Wii U does not support GBAs or other non-standard devices, so this is impossible.

Technically speaking, someone could make a driver for it if the adapter was in PC mode, right?

I think the only device with enough hardware access would be Blissbox, so if we want this to happen, nag Ulao and offer him money.

It's not a driver issue. The Wii U GC adapter simply doesn't expose the serial interface required to communicate with GBA-Link to the host. A custom firmware would be needed (and we don't even know if that's possible, the adapter may use ROM to store its firmware). Also, as AON3 said, implementing support through Blissbox is probably easier than hacking the official adapter (still a lot of work, through)...

I think an awesome feature would be to have m3u playlists like the Mednafen PSX emulator. In addition to this a button to switch discs in the playlist. The best use case is for multi-disc games. You then have the ability to add only one m3u file to an emulator frontend like ICE (via Steam) for example. Loading the playlist will automatically start the first item and pressing the change disc button, will launch the second item on the playlist.

Here is an example m3u file created for Mednafes PSX:

Code:
./Chrono Cross/Chrono Cross (Disc 1).cue
./Chrono Cross/Chrono Cross (Disc 2).cue

Well as far as ideas in this thread go, that actually isn't such a terrible one. Whether it'd be easy to implement or not is something for a developer to consider, though.

Honestly, Dolphin wouldn't need that to get the functionality. A dev has already talked about how to do it, and Dolphin's gamelist can already tell when there are two discs for a game and which disc is which. But really, out of 3000 games Dolphin can play, there are not very many two disc games on the gamecube and zero on the wii, so there isn't much motivation to set it up.

I've planned to make Dolphin automatically switch discs when needed. Like MaJoR said, Dolphin would be able to detect disc pairs if both discs are in the game list, but I suppose that won't work with ICE. I can add m3u support after adding automatic disc switching, it doesn't look especially complicated. The question is just when I'll get around to doing it... Tongue

I see now with the amount of multi-disc games, that it's a pretty low priority change request. Thanks either way for discussing the possibility at least.
