Am I correct in thinking that Dolphin currently only allows you to load textures from external files and not files of any type? I would really appreciate the ability to put, in the game INI for instance, <file inside game ISO to replace> = <path to file on PC to load instead>. I can use GC-Tool to replace files within the ISO, but this only works for files of equal or lesser size, which is pretty limiting (and also requires keeping at least one extra copy of the ISO to avoid overwriting the original). Being able to load files from outside the ISO would be much faster and more flexible, and I'm hoping that the existence of texture packs makes it somewhat feasible...

Dolphin doesn't have this feature but in the meantime you can use wit CLI tools to create modified GC/Wii ISOs with files of whatever size you want...

The support for texture packs doesn't really have anything to do with this. There is a way to load arbitrary files on your computer, but you will need to extract the entire ISO, and there are several steps to setting it up. First, you need to go to Config > Paths. Set DVD Root to the folder where all the game's files are, then set Apploader to the apploader. Then, you need to load the game's DOL in Dolphin. You can do this by dragging the DOL to the Dolphin window, or by using File > Open...

Music files, for instance. 02-25-2015, 05:47 AM

The dialogue wants an IMG file, but PSO has an "AppLoader.ldr" file of 111 844 bytes. When I set that as the loader and try to boot Start.dol, I get the attached error message saying that the loader is the wrong size, and then the screen just goes black. I have to kill Dolphin.exe with the Task Manager to escape. Loading PsoV3.dol instead of Start.dol doesn't work, either. 02-25-2015, 09:12 AM
Make sure you've extracted the files with Dolphin. Other tools may use different layouts, resulting in that kind of errors...

I humbly put myself before the authors to make some requests:
Widescreen Hack Improvement It would be very cool if trusted widescreen game patches were enabled when the Widescreen Hack is toggled on. Because initially, I thought that widescreen just didn't work, and I needed to discover those patches by Googling. Prior to said Googling, several games looked really bad when they didn't need to. 60FPS Hack Similarly, related to the recent 60fps post: a "60FPS Hack" option that acts as an automatic shortcut to configuring that per-game. It would enable the related game patches, as well as set the overclocker appropriately, in addition to whatever other tweaks need to be made. DualShock4 Support Its touchpad and SixAxis inputs are a really decent replacement for Wiimote controls in most games, and you still have buttons leftover for macros (assigning a button to shake makes Mario titles on Wii amazingly better). This would make titles like Zack & Wiki more playable. You can do the motion stuff right now by mapping motion input to keyboard keys, and while it feels OK, it's pretty low-fidelity and it would be a lot better with real motion data. Some here might be familiar with DS4Windows, which is open source and could perhaps help along a Dolphin implementation: https://github.com/Jays2Kings/DS4Windows 02-28-2015, 04:23 AM
So, I was doing some thinking and thought that with net-play more or less sorted out, GBA link functionality being fixed. What about net-play with GBA link support for games like crystal chronicles or four swords multiplayer. Of course I realize the priority of such a thing would be immensely low but I would think it would be amazing. Each person would only need to fully emulate ONE GBA and dolphin itself. Just food for thought as it would be pretty neat.
Keep up the good work all! 02-28-2015, 06:08 AM
A hotkey to toggle the framelimiter ON or OFF with one press. Not a Turbo button which you must hold down.
