[Feature Request] Auto Enable GC Adapter When Detected

Hey there,

The GC USB Adapter is one of the best controller features of dolphin. I thought it would be convenient to set a priority such that when the adapter is detected, it will enable its use, and when it is not detected, it will automatically go back to the default controller setting (most likely standard controller).

This would allow easy controller swapping without changing settings. My setup specifically has all my games through the steam overlay with its controller support, useful for swapping controllers and streaming, but the GC adapter is a black sheep in this otherwise unified system as it requires the specific adapter without auto xinput support.

No pressure to add this feature as it's not critical in anyway, but I thought I would toss the idea out. If there are suggested workarounds, I'd be happy to hear them as well!

Wish you all the very best!

That actually doesn't sound that bad.

It could work, would need more people to agree though.

How exactly would you like to see this work? Would controller configs get swapped whenever a GC controller is plugged in to the adapter, even if a game is currently being emulated? That would also probably require controller hotplug support?
I definitely like the idea, but I think there is a lot to discuss. What if instead of going back to a default setting when a GC controller is removed, that controller slot just reverts to the setting/config it had before the GC controller was plugged in?

Just for simplicity, I don't think hot swapping is worth it, I was thinking more along the lines of initial start of dolphin or the game itself. It already states if the adapter is detected, and I thought if a standard controller is set as default, there would be an option somewhere to allow for the USB adapter to override the player slot if detected, the adapter itself, not if a controller is plugged itself.

Scanning for the adapter has caused problems in the past so something like this would have to be off by default, but it's a nice idea. PRs are welcome!
