I personally don't have much experience with programming emulators, or C++, but I have a decent amount of experience with Java and UIs. The Widescreen hack in dolphin is almost completely useless, and most GC games require a gecko or AR code to be playable in 16:9. The idea for this is to combine all known 16:9 AR, and gecko codes, as well as the widescreen hack for the few games it doesn't break, into one setting in the menu, so People like me who have large game libraries in Dolphin don't have to go through one by one and add the codes manually. Not being whiny, it was just a feature I came up with while doing the exact thing this feature mostly eliminates.

No.

All the widescreen hacks are of varying quality and sometimes randomly break.

Not to mention not all games even have widescreen hacks made for them.

We already have a universal widescreen hack. It's universal-ness is why is has so many issues - that's just the natural result of going with a one size fits all solution.

Well... One solution might be to include the widescreen codes into the game ini's. In other words, a new Dolphin installation has these codes included by default rather than requiring the user to manually add them. Of course, codes should still be disabled by default.

But... I don't know how good that might be received. People might think that those are officially part of Dolphin. And well... Codes tends to break stuff sometimes and some codes tends to be updated fairly often.

I still wouldn't do it this way. But it might be an option for the forums or wiki itself to ease users into providing them with the latest of useful codes. That doesn't necessarily need to be widescreen codes. Anything from hard mode, extended draw distance, disabled culling, increased FPS and more might be considered useful. I don't really know the exact guidelines for listing codes on a game's wiki page but that might be an option. So far as I am aware, quite a lot of game wiki pages contain 16:9 widescreen codes when available, through many still lack (updated) codes. I suppose more wiki contributors could never harm.

We already have cheat codes for some games included in the game INIs. Those are messier than having widescreen codes would be, in my opinion.

(There are probably already some widescreen codes among them as well, but there are many that aren't there.)

That's what I was going to say, but the idea is that the codes are included, and a setting could enable them when possible. (of course disabled by default)
