This is why you always include an "other" option in the poll. So that these people can still have a vote. Also I take it we're only picking from home game consoles here not portable game consoles? In that case I'm torn between the SNES, N64, and GC. I would probably pick the N64 because it's the one that I spent the most time with as a kid. But honestly I love all nintendo consoles fairly equally (except the NES which was too primitive imo to ever really captivate me with its games, and the wii which just didn't have enough solid first and third party titles to stack up to the rest).

Edit: It appears me and SS agree on something after all.

Yeah Nintendo 64 would be my second choice. It had some great games.

For most of the mid-90s to 2000, I only had the PS1 as my 5th gen console. I loved it, I played it all the time, but I really wanted an N64 as a kid. I used to have pages from those Toys R Us ads that came in the sunday paper; I'd just stare at them sometimes and dream. That's not to say I didn't play it; all my other friends had one, so I went over to their houses and played it. Perfect Dark, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Destruction Derby: we played it all.

One summer, I went to the local Pokemon League at a Toys R Us, and then after it was done, my dad bought us an N64 since he thought I was doing something positive with my time (ironic, since an N64 is strictly for wasting time, just in a fun way :p). I was amazed because he'd held off for so long to buy it (the GC came out later next year) but damn, did I play that little machine to death. I played SSB until I used to get headaches (it happened a lot when I was a kid if I played too long XD).

As much as I love the PS1 for its plethora of great RPGs, I was born and raised on Nintendo products. I didn't miss out on Mario's first 3D outing, and I'm glad I didn't. Those were exciting days to be a youngster. I still get excited thinking of playing N64 games in HD on my PC. To me, they're timelessly fun.

I got the GameCube as my first console sometime in 2004. I was so excited that I could finally play video games. I also got The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Video Game, Mario Kart Double Dash, Pokémon Colleseum, and I think that was it. I then asked for new GameCube games up until the end of the console. I remember my 8th birthday when I opened NFS Hot Pursuit 2, I stared at the back of the game for hours until my parents finally let me play it (I'm restricted on gameplay DSmile. I was actually quite sad when the GameCube was cancelled, and I didn't get a Wii until a few years ago.

Last year I found out about video game emulation and I was stunned. Play my old games on a PC, in HD?! I now buy old games on EBay, rip them to PC, and play them. I think it's really cool to at this time and age just start playing Nintendo 64. I'm not one of those Black Opps 2 people who play that all day everyday then throw it out when the next one comes out - I savor games and judge them on experience, not graphics. Sometimes I wish they would make a new gaming console that's only powerful enough to play 8 and 16 Bit games. New games just don't have the magic that old ones have, and it's just amazing how someone like me can still feel that magic today.

The GameCube just has to be my favorite because 1. I just love Nintendo and 2. It was my first console.

Maybe someone or I could make a favorite handheld poll after this one dies down? Smile

This list is way too small! Where is the ColecoVision, NeoGeo/AES/CD/CDZ, Hyper NeoGeo 64, RDI Halcyon, Fairchild Channel F (worst controller EVAR), Fairchild Channel F System II, RCA Studio II (there's no "studio 1", HA), Intellivision, Vectrex, Arcadia 2001, Gemini, Intellivision II, Xavix, Evo, Bandai Playdia, Magnovox Odyssey, Magnovox Odyssey 2, Bally Astrocade, Coleco Telstar Arcade, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar/Jaguar CD (who made that controller?!), Virtual Boy, TurboGraphix16/TurboGraphix16 CD/TurboDuo (also known as PC Engine), PC-FX, APF-MP1000, VC 4000, Commadore 64 Games System, Casio PV-1000, VTech CreatiVision, Apple Bandai Pippin, Zeebo, and the infamous Phillips CD-i!

Ok ok, *heavy breathing*. That's just consoles, that work in the traditional form of removeable media. Doesn't include the built in game systems (minus the vectrex cause it's just that awesome), computer hybrids, or handhelds.

But alright, seriously, why did you leave out poor Sega? SG-1000/3000, Sega Mark III/Sega Master System, Sega Genesis/Sega CD/32X, Sega Saturn, and the wonderful little gem of the Sega Dreamcast? And why are the 360 and PS3 combined? Haven't you heard of console wars!
