Any help would really be appreciated

So what's exactly your issue? The game doesn't work after patching it? You couldn't patch the game? Tell us more

I'm trying to use Dolphin 3.0-715dirty to play the English sub that was done by Zero4. I follow the instructions by xat to a tee, (my copy has only a Partition 1 not 2) and I created the partition and extracted said partition to where the original version was on Partition 1 and after that I load the ISO I get a permanent black screen.

I then proceed to check my backup copy to see if it's the ISO I have and the original japanese version loads immediately and has 55-60 FPS on FRAPS.

I then try to make the partition again outlined by xat to see if I possibly messed up somewhere and after about 1hr and 30 minutes after the process completed including the extraction of partition 1 replaced by the new partition that we just made. Same exact thing happened.

I also tried to do what mkamelg suggested since it seems we have the same ISO by choosing "unencrypted partition" and then "extract" but that only seems to create the sub folders within the iso, rather than the ISO itself so I don't really see what that accomplished.

(I was using Wiiscrubber 1.4 and partitionbuilder 1.1 throughout the process, I was going to use 1.2 partitionbuilder but I didn't know if there would be any issues with using a later version and didn't want to take a chance)

Partition : 0 = Partition : 1
Partition : 1 = Partition : 2

It shouldn't take more than 30-40 minutes

Maybe an issue with your patch. Where did you get it?

I didn't time it exactly, it could of taken about that but I just said what it felt like.

I replaced partition 1 (which is partition 2 in xat's post) so nothing could of gone wrong there, I could tell what to do from mkamelg post.

I got the patch straight from the fatal frame 4 project website http://www.fatalframe4.net/

If the patch had been badly applied I guess Dolphin would have crashed.

So :
-You could try to use another revision of Dolphin and especially Dolphin 3.0 (This is the one I use for this game).
-It might come from your iso too. Check the size of it. If it happened to be incomplete for whatever reason it mightn't work. You could try to redump your game

Argh, I'm using the newest version 3.0-721 to no avail http://dolphin-emu.org/download.html after I deleted my previous partition and original ISO (again) and did a redump of my backup RAR files which (again) show the game is still working without patch, I remember OP was mentioning that you only needed 600 or so files to transfer over for the ISO to be completely subbed, I wonder if I should just copy the whole 2700 over instead to see if that solves the issue (I doubt it Angry) but I really appreciate you guys helping me out though Smile

Edit: Official release 3.0-716 also confirmed not working with all compilers, all hacks such as EFB skip Ignore format changes, and everything within the "other" section of hacks confirmed to have the same black screen issue.

Here are some screenshots of the freeze effect.

Here's a working copy of Brawl in case you're wondering if that might be the issue.

And here is the copy of my working unpatched ISO

You are not using THE official release. Here is the official release http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html?rev=v30&arch=win64

oh I apologize, I just did a few tests and it's weird, normally it freezes at the point where it displays my processor in yellow text like the previous images, however the official release that you linked me seems to be getting 60fps but it still a black screen.

I'm trying to play around with settings on dolphin to see if I can change it using the experimental compilers and such.

Also it could be that I made a redump of my files and I saw that the OP mentions NOT to extract the credits folder (which is what i've been doing the entire time) so that could be influencing it too.

Edit: I didn't make it clear that I was using the new redump ISO (which is everything but the credits extracted) and after testing all compilers and video backend stuff such as OpenGL, DX9, DX11 still havent' gotten it to work.

I finally got it to work! If anyone is having black screen troubles than I would HIGHLY recommend NOT to extract the credits folder as that is what I was having troubles with. Also I forgot to extract the small or large text into the ISO previously which is why I was getting the black screen.

TLDR Follow xat's instructions, except for extracting the credits and choose ONLY large or small text both will not work at the same time.

I guess my current problem is related to this line. I followed xat's instructions and chose small font, but now I have this ingame:

Can anyone tell me what's causing this, what have I done wrong? No, I'm pretty sure I only extracted the small fonts, yet it looks like there are small and big fonts on top of each other.

AMD Phenom II X2 555 @3.20 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, ASUS EAH5770 CUcore (ATI Radeon 5700 HD series, 1 GB), Windows 7 x64.

Did you follow xat's method or what FriedZombie said?
