You don't need SCP(faq) or Motioninjoy to get the ps3 controller to work.

This thread is for Windows of course (for Ubuntu Linux, screwing around with an old app; jstest-gtk if I remember right; will as I suppose excidentally enable the controller lol, try rumble)

The controller works well with the DirectInput driver automatically installed opening PSNow.

Steam also works with it.

You don't even need to start the PSNow free trial, just connect the controller with the program open, or install it manually if possible.

Can someone authorized test it and see for themself what's the best?

This isn't xinput, but not a wrapper at least.

I don't know if it works wireless and don't know about the sixaxis motion functionality (second doesn't work on Android default drivers however).

This is just the official Sony way to do it I guess.

What do you think?

I've tested it in the past. That driver allow accessing official DualShock 3 and Sixaxis controllers though DInput. Works only through USB and provide only regular buttons, no rumble, motion sensors or analog button data (except for L2/R2) can be accessed with this driver. Most don't even know about its existence and it's a driver with limited functionality, hence why people just go with wrappers like SCP Toolkit instead...

Thank you for your reply!

This would mean plenty PSNow games have a handicap.

Ain't I right?

Stupid Microsoft controller drivers getting old.

It's possible that PS Now uses some hidden API to access all functionality of the controller when using this driver, but if that's the case it's certainly undocumented and I'm not aware of any app/game that uses it. Other programs (apart from PS Now) are limited to DInput with no rumble, motion sensors or analog button data (apart from the triggers)...
