I've been trying to play some Wii games with friends through Dolphin's online. For what ever reason, they are completely unable to play any Wii game online, however, because of the above error. This ONLY occurs online, they can play the games fine offline, and I have no such issues online. It doesn't matter who hosts, only those 2 get the issue, while I'm perfectly fine. We're using Dolphin 5.0-4432. Is there a better nightly to use? We've tried new config files, and even portable mode, but nothing seems to work.
Failed to write BT.DINF to SYSCONF but only under certain conditions

You should clarify which games you're trying to play. It could be a problem with your networking setup (i.e., no port forwarding when behind a router), or it could be that you've misconfigured Dolphin's netplay settings. Also, you're trying to do local multiplayer (split-screen gameplay) over a network with your friends, correct? Just asking because that's a different problem from trying to play online games that require a server for Nintendo WiFi Connect multiplayer.
I can't reproduce their issue either. Started a Wii game in netplay and didn't get any error about failing to write the Bluetooth info. Though I recently rewrote the SYSCONF code, and it's possible a regression was introduced
To check if it's a regression, could you ask your friends to try 5.0-4414? They just need to right click on a game in the list, select Host on Netplay, start the game and see if the issue is still there. (No need to actually try it with more than one person) By the way, "online" could mean either Dolphin's netplay feature or the Wii's own online features. I assume you mean Dolphin's netplay here. 06-20-2017, 01:50 AM
Yes, Dolphin's netplay, sorry for not specifying. We can play Gamecube games fine, so our setup shouldn't be an issue, and the game we're trying to play is Tales of Graces. I'll see later today to get one of them to try 5.0-4414, thanks

Alright, so on 5.0-4414 they don't get the error. However, upon further inspection...the game doesn't work in netplay at all. Just a black screen. We're aware of the region locking the game has, and have the language set to Japanese. Other Wii games work, though. Is there a specific setting or something this one needs?

IIRC, the language setting is not carried over, because netplay always uses a blank NAND.
Anyway, I'm not sure why it fails for your friends... could you ask them to enable logging (all logging types, level set to Info) and post their logs? 06-21-2017, 12:26 PM
