you guys have too much faith in windows stabilitty. having lots of programs running at the same time fucks with it.

I don't think the windows he has open has anything to do with it crashing. If he manages to beat it again (it is a tough boss) I imagine it would crash in the same spot.

And really, MS Paint? That's not a resource hog.

He already said he suspected it was a synchronization issue.

Also, he should totally play Super Mario Galaxy, would be great to have an idea how LGA 2011 processors perform in dolphin.

More stuttering => more irregular timing => more instability. You see, Dolphin's synchronization code is highly sensitive for these kind of issues.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH

That's all for today folks ._.
I know how you feel. I feel that same way when sometimes I get graphics display driver error and recover in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. So now, you're in my shoes. :/

No.

Having a shitty computer makes running many applications unstable. You have too little knowledge to apply your faith anywhere

I would agree. I have i5 2500k and i can play dolphin fine with loads of shit in the background. It still runs 100%... It's not like games run on an average of 50% for me and i need to focus my CPU on JUST dolphin.
I've been playing this way for quite a few months now.
His computer is good enough to have multiple things open at once.
OS: Windows 7
Processor: i5 2500K @ 3.3 ghz
RAM: 8 GB corsair vengeance
GPU: XFX HD Radeon 6870

Some of you are only thinking in terms of "normal" PC usage. Yes, if you have "x" amount of RAM and "x" processor, you can run up to "x" amount of programs at the same time perfectly fine, but just like everything else when you compare it to emulation, it's not the same. Other running programs can fight for resources and cause instability while Dolphin is trying to emulate these games. Now, this is not to say having those programs running is definitely what caused his crash, but it certainly didn't help. If you're looking to give yourself the best chance of a game not hanging up on you, you should limit what else is running at the same time that Dolphin is.

Asus Laptop: K53TA
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-Bit - SP1
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3400M, Quad-Core, 1.4GHz-2.6GHz (Overclocked)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6650M, 1GB GDDR3 (Catalyst 13.1)
RAM: Samsung 4GB DDR3-1333
