Hi,

Planning to buy a new HTPC to replace my MacMini 2014. How would this build perform in on Gamecube games like Metroid, Mario Kart DD, Smash, RE4,Zelda TP? In 1080p?

Would be awesome if it could pull some Wii games as well but I dont want to push it...

i7 - 9700 (8C, 3.0 - 4.8 mhz)

16 GB ram

Intel UHD Graphics 630...

512 SSD

Cheers,

Using my laptop to test with integrated, metroid prime(gc) ran fine at 3x but did have slow down at 3x. It was hit or miss for 1080p. You would likely have to use 1x or 2x with the integrated in most game. Wii isn't necessarily more demanding then game cube and can be emulated with 3x in some game but going down to 2x or 1x in others. If you had a graphic card like the gt 1030 you should be able with that to get 3x or 1080 with no problem. ON the cpu side you have more enough power cpu to run though games. If you go the gt 1030 Make sure to get the gddr5 one as there is a serious performance deference. You could get a more powerful low profile card if you want to also. For the laptop i use it using a 7700hq with intel hd 630. It also has a gtx 1070 and with this it has no problems running most game with dolphin.

Thank you! Ok, good to know.

The specs I wrote was from a pre configured Lenovo Thinkcenter Tiny. One of the few PCs that can match the form factor of the Mac Mini. Considering to build a slightly bigger HTPC instead from a Fractal design Node 304 chassi. Going for an i5-9600k and a spare GTX 980ti. That should give me 1080p in most game I hope.

Cheers,

Cheers,

That 980ti will do 4k in most games actually, I was able to run that without much issues on my Pentium G4560+GTX780 3GB, only issue it had was that the 780 doesn't support HDMI2.0 so for 4k60 you need to use displayport or an active DP>HDMI2.0 adapter.
Check my profile for up to date specs.
