I made a brand new account because Reddit is useless for anything that isn't venting.

I dunno where I should start, so I'm just going to start wherever. I've been trying to do this for hours.

First I'm constantly having trouble connecting my controller because the Bluetooth keeps on sensing and not sensing the Wiimote. On Dolphin I have the controller as "real," then I'd press "refresh" after pushing the red button or 1+2, and then "scan continuously." Sometimes it works, until it disconnects. Then I usually have to switch controllers and try again.

IF I can connect, the next problem is with trying to connect my Wiimote sensor to my mouse. I tried using GlovePie with the script found here but it won't detect my controller. (I do have the Wii Motion Plus + Nunchucks clicked in.)
I know that script is for keys and I'd personally would like it to bind with my mouse, (I can't find a mouse script) but it won't recognize my Wiimote anyway so I'd just be stuck with the same problem.

So I tried looking to see if anybody else is having the same problem and somebody suggested WiinUPro, so I downloaded the latest version plus the Soft version. I tried using Pro and it detected my buttons but I couldn't find out how to calibrate it so I can connect my Wiimote and my mouse. (I'm assuming that it can't do that anyway?)

So I tried using Soft, and here's where the problem gets specific- it needs me to push the red button to find my device, but if I do that my device will disconnect. It'll say that it can sense my Wiimote and sometimes the Bluetooth page will say that I'm still connected, but my Wiimote will just flash until it shuts off, and then I'm back to the first paragraph.

I tried using my keyboard but for some reason the arrow keys don't work properly. That might actually be a problem with my keyboard though. So basically I'd really prefer playing with a controller if at all possible. Thanks.

Alternatively if there's a way to connect my Joycons to only my laptop so I'm not playing my husband's game while he's playing it, that'd be cool too. Of course I'd probably just have the same problem with the pointer.

Oh jeez this is a lot.

How are you connecting your Wii Remote? Are you pairing it to your operating system? That kind of connectivity issue typically occurs from pairing to the OS, as OS level pairing will interfere with Dolphin's ability to communicate with the Wii Remote. If you paired to the OS, be sure to remove that pairing. Only connect Wii Remotes to Dolphin through Dolphin's controls!

Also how you connect your Wii Remote will depend on the type you have. If it is a Wii Remote Plus with the red sync button passthrough on the battery cover, you should* use that sync button. If it is a regular Wii Remote, you should* use quick sync by pressing 1+2. What is your Wii Remote?

EDIT: We have a guide that details connecting Wii Remotes - https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/configuring-controllers/#Wii_Remote

*There are exceptions but you probably won't encounter those.

In the latest Dolphin builds, you can use "Connect Wii Remotes for Emulated Controllers" to use your real wii remote but have the pointer be controlled by the Gryo inside the Wii Remote plus or your mouse. I'll save walking you through that until after you have a Wii Remote working correctly.

Also don't use Glovepie. It's an awful bit of software and it's made by an awful human being, and there are now much better alternatives. Please do not use Glovepie.

You can! You can even use their motion to fully emulate a Wii Remote Plus now! But let's diagnose the Wii Remote first.

I think I may have accidentally found the connecting problem. While waiting I decided to test out the Gamecube part by connected my PS3 controller under "Gamecube controllers." After that I didn't have a problem connecting my Wiimote at all. I tried a few times just in case.

I had to use "Real Wii Remote" to connect but I'm able to switch to the "Emulated Wii Remote" option. The LED lights blinked between the 1st and 3rd light and the 2nd and 4th light a few times before stopping on the 1st and 3rd.
I switch the "profile" to "Wii Remote with MotionPlus Pointing (Stock)" but it's not mapping my inputs. I tried switching to "all devices" as well just in case. I know I'm going ahead a bit though.
