6602 is the one he was playing on.

Yeah, my friend beat that level.

Just tried the newest version (6623), and I got it working!

Nope, didn't need to, I think mostly just enabling the "Safe Texture" thing because when you smacked the essence it made the screen go all weird, well when I enable safe textures, when you hit it, it did what it was suppose to do.

Finishing which level? The one that was showed before where where you have to use the explosives and escape?
Or right where you fight Pious? Because all I have is the one where you go to fight him.

But my friend is planning on beating the game all 3 times, so we can get level select.

Are you sure you inspected everything? There is one you might of missed, can you maybe post your save? I can have my friend look at it this weekend and he can double check to see if maybe your missing one.
But did you check the one where you have to use the trapper to, and there was those 2 horrors, you might of missed that one?

I tried replay the level,same setting as you,but slightly newer build{6624} from here

Also when i have "Safe Textures" off, the room with the guardian it has spikes glitching out of the wall.

How do I load your save? Do I have to find and download the EUR version of the game?
I tried renaming it as MemoryCardB.USA to see if I could load it, but it wont.
