How did you manage to boot it up in the first place?

The game boots in interpreter, but really slow. Once it does, you have to save state when you see the "Edger Allan Poe" quote come on-screen, then exit the emulator. Now disable interpreter and enable the JIT, then, as soon as the emulator starts to run, you must load your save state. While the EAP message displays again, press "A" or "Start" repeatedly until you get to the title screen. It's tricky, sometimes it doesn't work.

As far as getting in-game, the save file is good but I run into another problem just after the save loads. There is nothing else I can do without the actual problem being fixed.

Anyway, here are a few more screens of where I got to.

Right there if I click on the error the music still plays and the emulator hangs, or sometimes the emulator crashes. That is all. A code fix or a patch is needed.

Yeah, that's the JIT/MMU problem I was alluding to in my posts above. It is something separate from the FIFO problems.

I do have the game running from start up until that error message using the JIT and DX9/OGL plugins without save state tricks but it's still needs more work. Maybe today's LLE commit will help the emulation a bit?

No. The same error occurs with the new builds. Have you tried the game save? I know the memory card save led to my final error message, but maybe you did something different than I did? Can a patch be used to pass that point where it hangs and maybe debugging it and skipping over that area will help?

Also, are you saying we were able to bypass the FIFO problem the way I did it with save states and whatever way you did it to get to the title screen? But that does not mean FIFO problems won't pop-up again somewhere else?

Yeh, I have tried the game save and got the same error message that you did.

I am also able to get the error message by going through the usual, start up, wait for the quote, wait for the intro movie, wait for the menu, start a new game, wait for the second intro movie, and finally wait for "The Darkness Comes" screen.

To get past the error message (which is the JIT/MMU problem) will simply require hardcore debugging and determination.

Yeh, you were able to bypass the FIFO problem by using the interpreter. The second time the FIFO problem hits is when you select to start a new game from the menu, correct? Are you able to see the 2nd intro movie - the one where there is a screen full of skin and a voice over saying "Bones. Skin. The greatest of magickal incantations" or something. I've watched that intro maybe 50 times now since it's not skippable.

You were then able to bypass the second FIFO problem when you used the save game, at which point you hit the JIT/MMU problem.

You're right, FIFO problems can appear again which is why we need a proper FIFO fix. That is what I am working on currently. After that, I guess I should look at the JIT/MMU problem. It's a long road ahead.

I am only able to see part of the second intro video. Where the skin is shown and they say bones, then the fps counter stops responding but the vps and speed percentage keep moving. After the fps counter stops working, the game does not get any further.

Also, when I bypassed the FIFO problem with the interpreter at start up, using the interpreter again after loading the memory card save did not help. I don't see why running the game in interpreter wouldn't work in that case since you say the problem is a JIT/MMU problem, the interpreter does not use JIT. So it would be running the game in interp, then closing and then JIT, then interp again, but the interpreter is having problems too.

Anyway, it seems the FIFO error is avoidable for now since that is not what is stopping us, but the JIT/MMU problem needs to be fixed to move on.
