Also if you have the money: http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-P67-Extreme4-B3-Motherboard/dp/B004QTHYZK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1308027567&sr=1-1

Awesome P67 board. It's an extra $60. Down the road you can buy an aftermarket air cooler and then this board will let you OC like a madman.

And do realize that if you buy a 650 watt PSU (power supply unit) instead of a 550 watt you won't have to upgrade it down the road if you ever decide to buy a high end video card, you'll only have to upgrade the case down the road. So it's a wise future investment but if you don't have the money I understand.

Updated my last post. Quoted below in case you don't feel like flipping back to read it:
Quote:And like I've said before, get some ddr3 1600MHz ram (this ram is not only much better than what you listed but is actually $5 less in price): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

I also find it odd that half of your products are from amazon and half are from newegg. So you're willing to buy some components from newegg but not all of it?

I was wondering the same thing.

Yep. I'm going to buy some if not half of my supplies from newegg, but I'm also looking on Amazon as well. Big Grin

What is the point in that?

You usually end up paying more for shipping when you do it that way, but hey, it's your money.

yep... But then again, i could end up paying less, who knows. I have a question though. Just out of curiosity, since Ness said something about the sandy bridge i5 being better than first gen i7, could twilight princess possibly be played full speed at a lower clock? I already know that hyrule field is going to be a big mess already, since it seems that the ENTIRE HYRULE FIELD is being rendered at once. Other than that, is everywhere else in the game ok?

Yes. Clock rate is one of many factors in determining performance. For example an Athlon II X2 at 3.2GHz will perform roughly on par with a core 2 duo at 2.4GHz. A core i5/i7 cpu would likely be able to achieve the same performance at 2.0GHz. Of course since there are many possible internal and external bottlenecks clock rate doesn't always have a linear relationship with performance.

??????
That makes no sense, how else would you render it? Just like every other game everything within your field of view is rendered one triangle at a time until the entire framebuffer is full.

What makes hyrule field slow actually deals with rendering the mini-map. I'm not going to launch into a 30 minute post explaining what happens and why it makes everything so slow because you can look it up, I along with many others have written several posts about it if you want a more information about the inner workings.

Quote:It seems what is happening with the game is that it is constantly reading/writing the efb data and texture for the mini-map and flushing all of this data through the pipeline causing the slowdowns. Dumping textures revealed hundreds if not a thousand of the minimap textures each differing slightly, probably causes big slowdowns on Hyrule Field due to the size of Hyrule Field. That said the issue isn't the geometry that is causing the slowdowns for this game at least, it's the mini map textures being flushed through the pipeline.

This happens with other games that read/write efb data and textures although none of the other games have slowdowns like in Hyrule Field and the speedup hack doesn't work with other games.

The process of figuring all of this out was long and painful (as evidenced by that 60 page thread as well as hundreds of others like it).
