I wouldn't think the PS2 as an overclocked PS1 because it is so vastly different in architecture from other consoles. The same could be said for the PS3, as it is really radically different from PS2. This is why PCSX2 needs at least a dual-core processor to run games effectively. Sony was ahead of its time, but coding and programming proved to be extremely difficult on the system. PS3 also shares the same problems PS2 has in its early years. It will be several years before the PS3 and 360 can be emulated on PC. Dolphin still has to be improved upon and it takes time to make it a perfect emulator of GC and Wii.
