So I've been having a few issues with Bluetooth Passthrough, you see, It launches perfectly the first time, everything works as expected, but when launching a second title, be it through ES_Launch and the Wii Menu or the game list, it always freezes.
It used to work just fine about a month ago when I first tried it, but now I'm having issues.

I should probably also note that, it does work if I relaunch the emulator, but I do have to kill it in Task Manager
Download the latest development build of Dolphin and you'll be fine.

Im having the same problem.

Still nobody knows why this happens. I guess bt is not properly closed. It started to happen on builds a month or two ago.

Today played mario party 8 for 2 hours, closed it tried to launch again and blackscreen and dolphin hangs and only task manager can kill it.

There is a similiar thread here https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-bluetooth-passthrough-bug-introduced-between-5-0-2501-and-5-0-2505

Probably if you can bring more info, game, some log info, devs could try to know why is happening.

Some BT Adapters are known for stopping responding after a HCI reset command is triggered (e.g. resetting the game, going to/from the Wii Menu from/to a game or channel, etc). Since it stops responding, the emulated software keeps waiting a reply which is never received, thus the black screen freeze. In other words, you guys need a better BT Adapter. Another workaround you can do is resetting the USB Hub where the adapter is connected before launching another game (you can do this in Device Manager on Windows 10, I don't know if previous Windows versions also allow doing that), or if the BT Adapter is removable, unplugging and re-plugging it should work too...

It seemes we're having some threading issues on Windows with LibUSB. Linux works fine though, so... yeah.

If Dolphin itself is hanging and not the game, then yes. It's an issue with libusb :/

The strange thing is, the UI doesn't hang until you click stop or pause. All settings menus including controller configuration work just fine.

A few other nuggets i found when messing with it:
  • If you force stop the emulation (don't gracefully shut down), it works on the next launch.
  • Unplugging and plugging my BT adapter back in after a graceful shutdown does not prevent crashes
  • Dolphin works just fine after a full relaunch
  • I get occasional "LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED" messages, especially after a reboot.
I've attached a log file of the second launch, just in case that helps.

It s weird that only happens on second game. You can launch games closing down completely dolphin and it will never hang.

Btw Im using wii bt module, so dont think I can get a better adapter Big Grin

And Im using the wii bt adapter since passthrough was introduced in a PR many months ago and never had this problem until builds from a month or so ago.

Also tried both adapters, the wml c43 and the j27h002. And both does the same, also tried another win10 machine, and the same.

Both pc are using libusbK, didnt tried another libusb.

Well, after more testing, i found problem is with dolphin, not libusb.

Latest build hangs on second game.

5.0. 2501 hangs on second game

5.0. 1569 Works fine.

So, bug was introduced between 1569 ansd 2501. Have to do more testing.

Always using wii bt module.

Edit. 5.0.2209 is fine. So, it s between 2209 and 2501

Edit2 5.0.2486 hangs on second game

5.0.2341 is fine too, so between 2341 and 2486

5.0.2341 Works for me as well. I tried the next build (5.0-2352), and I get a LIBUSB_ERROR_OTHER when launching, even after restart. That build has some modified USB code, so I guess the error comes from that. I don't think it's the same bug that causes the second-time crash, though.

EDIT: I Tried the latest build and now I get LIBUSB_ERROR_OTHER on that as well. I'm pretty sure this problem is on my end. In the meantime I'll use 5.0.2341.

Yes, didnt tried more cause on build 5.0.2352 I get a warning when launching dolphin about libsub not found or something like this. Tried a few more builds from the same date, and the same. Not sure in which build the warning screen goes away, but probably that builds will have the second game black screen bug too.

Yes, probably not the same bug, cause on builds with the warning, I cant even use passthorugh. But probably code got wrong from that point.

If you cant try builds from 2486 and lower, we can get a better idea.
