When playing on my main PC a game that is located on my home server, the emulation regularly hangs, I have a freeze for 2-3 seconds. Copying the game on the same computer and launching it from there removes the problem, but I'd like to keep my isos on the other computer.
Is there anything I can do, on Dolphin or on any of my two computers to resolve this issue ?

This problem will be reduced if you update from 4.0 to a recent development version. I'm not sure how much of it will remain, though. It's currently not possible to configure Dolphin to remove all freezes caused by reading the disc, but that might be changed at some point in the future.

Also, if you have turned on "Speed Up Disc Transfer Rate" in the game properties, you must turn it off. It will unavoidably make these freezes worse.

I store my GCZ's on my server and I have never experienced a problem with lags or hiccups. Are you using wi-fi? Are both computers connected over LAN? What is the disk speed of your home server? Is the network card on both machines able to pass data at a high speed? All these factors can contribute to your problem.

If your server is spinning down the disks after a period of inactivity, that'll do it.

I forgot to mention that I'm using the latest build. I'll try to uncheck "Speed Up Disc Transfer Rate"

Both are on gigabit LAN, so it should be ok.

I think it's not the case by default and I have not changed that but I'll check

I'm guessing that is the case. I get the same symptoms you do when my external spins down, which holds all of my ISOs. It takes a few seconds to spin up which causes Dolphin to freeze until it can access the data again.

The HDDs are set to never spin down in Windows, and I changed the spindown time to 20mn with hdparm. It didn't change anything and now I have a crash in TimeSplitters Future Perfect in the zombie manor, and big slowdowns. It happens too if I have the iso on the same computer.

Is it an external drive? Some externals (WD is known for this) don't care what you set windows windows or hdparm to.
