Emulating the Wii Controller with a Touchpad On the Wii Console

I'm trying to do something a little different. I want to emulate a Wii controller with some bluetooth device, perhaps an arduino, and pass information from a laptop touchpad to the Wii as pointer coordinates. This way no sensor bar is needed for pointing. It's a little project that's going into a Wii handheld that I'm making.

Where might I find information on the Wiimote as an HID? What information would I need to pass along? Would I be better off emulating just the infrared camera in the end of the Wiimote with the arduino and using the wiimote brain to pass the information to the console?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
