Emulated wiimotes won't connect

Hi guys, I am new to emulation in general. I can get gamecube games running fine with my xbox controller but for some reason no matter what I do emulated wiimote won't work. I have set it up following numerous guides as a classic remote attachment and have the emulated wiimote on but in the console log it just says wiimote is not connected every time I press alt + f5 or launch a game. I cannot find anyone else with this problem so I am desperate.

sorry, half asleep, I have my xbox gamepad set up as a classic controller through an emulated wiimote and I can't get it to work. I tried binding all the controls just to the default wii controls and the console stills says wiimote not connected.

Are you sure the game you are trying to play support the classic controller and that you have set it up in game options if needed?
