Emulated Wiimote | No IR input in-game

The Problem

After updating to Dolphin 5.0-9289 to fix SH Shattered Memories problems (which mostly worked), the IR aspect of the emulated Wiimote (using a DS4 controller) hasn't worked since. The old one is 5.0, idk what revision but it doesn't have Vulkan or Vertex Rounding in its graphics settings. Even attempting to go back to the older version I used that previously worked with the IR, it now no longer works in that version either. This led me to wonder if it was an issue with the controller, so I did some troubleshooting.

Things I've Tried

I disconnected the controller, bound the IR functions to my mouse instead of the controller and tried again to no avail. Thinking it might somehow be the game itself, I got my old Twilight Princess copy back out and tried that since it does use the Wii's IR. It doesn't work with that game either though- this is true for both the mouse and controller.
I don't remember changing anything that would have anything to do with the control setup when I set up the new version of Dolphin. I changed some graphical options since that was why I downloaded it in the first place but I also tried to revert some of those to see if there was any change with the IR functionality and expectedly, there wasn't.

The IR worked fine until I tried the new version of Dolphin and now it doesn't work in either version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think it's an issue with Dolphin since button presses with the emulated Wiimote still work. I'd like to be able to play through a couple games that use IR though so I'd be very grateful towards anyone who can help me get this back up and running. Smile

Relevant Update

I was able to find a workaround (albeit REALLY difficult to work with). I've found that whenever I use the "Forward" function and hold it down I'm able to control the IR functions. There are three main issues with this though:

  1. I HAVE to hold the button/key down the entire time for this to work and using a rubber band on the only button that I could on the controller (the PS Guide button) makes strange things happen in Windows- like me not being able to do anything within most programs. I'm not entirely sure what's going on here but since the Guide feature can probably be used for some things within Windows itself, I'll probably try again later by rebinding the PS Button.
  2. While it technically works while holding down the "Forward" function of the IR Remote, it suddenly becomes extremely sensitive- much more than when it was working on its own. It's very difficult actually using it properly even when holding down the "Forward" button.
  3. Because I have to hold down the Forward button/key to make the IR work, I don't know what other issues could arise from this since I'm sure the Forward button is probably used for its own purposes. This makes me wonder if it'll even work throughout the run of play in most games since most games might need to NOT use the forward functionality but might need to use the IR. Though I'm not actually sure if this ever happens so I can't say for sure whether this is even a real issue.
It would certainly be far more useful and convenient if I could just get these darn games/dolphin to recognize the IR functionality from the get-go.

Do you have the Emulated Wii Remote pointed at the screen? Like, if it's set to sideways Wii remote, obviously the IR pointer wouldn't show up.

It's not a real wiimote so there is no pointing involved.

The are options in the emulated Wii Remote Configuration panel that orient the Wii Remote in various ways. Forward Wii Remote is the one that points it at the screen.

Oh I see what you mean now. Yeah I messed with that a few times just to make sure and always left it at Forward Wii Remote afterwards. It doesn't make any difference unfortunately.

Outside of a few buggy games, what you're describing isn't typical. Can you get screenshots of all of the Wii Remote Configuration tabs for the emulated Wii Remote you've setup

I had the same exact issue try making sure "Upright Wii Remote" and "Sideways Wii Remote" are unchecked in controller settings
