I'm not sure if this is a game issue or a controller issue...

I am playing Skyward Sword and for the life of me cant figure out how to get forward swing to work so I can perform sword thrusts. I have mapped it to several buttons, both on my controller and on the keyboard. In all cases, the Dolphin controller configuration GUI shows that it is registering a button press (the bar moves from the center to the top of the screen). However, the sword thrust never occurs in the game. I have confirmed with another user that they have the exact same controller setup as me and have no issue performing the sword thrust.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Show screenshots of every tab of your emulated Wii remote configuration or upload your WiimoteNew.ini.

Try changing the Swing Distance and Speeds to the defaults.
I know sword stabs work with default settings.
Most people are trying to avoid of unwanted stabs.
