So I just updated Dolphin to the latest development version. I noticed there was something to do with Ram memory. Is it a good idea to change it to medium to high values if I have 4 GB? It is only in megabytes, so I have plenty to override, right? If not, could someone explain this new feature please?
Emulated Memory Size Override questions.

Do not use this feature unless you are running certain mods or similar that you know require more emulated RAM.

All right. One last question, would it help emulation speed in general or will it not?

Only if the game has been specifically coded to go faster as a result of having more RAM, which is not the case normally.

So basically, useless unless I have a mod or specific game. Thanks. Will probably turn it up anyway since I'm getting a new laptop soon anyway that'll really benefit from the more RAM.

There is normally no benefit to changing the setting, and I'm not sure what negative effects it could have (since it's so new and has had relatively little testing). I would really recommend not using it unless you have a specific reason. 04-29-2020, 10:35 AM

Maybe once someone else fully tests it, I'll consider testing out some mods on my laptop. 05-28-2020, 12:24 PM

Bigger textures need more RAM to emulate, this is the memory on the PC. And for the 60fps gecko code, it will probably increase the CPU a little. Neither of these need to modify the emulated console. |
