Emulated GC-controller not working?

Hello,

I just installed Dolphin and I can't get the emulated Gamecube controller to work. I have chosen standard controller in port 1 in the Gamecube settings. I have tried to map the buttons using both dInput from the keyboard and xInput from an Xbox controller and while Dolphin recognize them in the settings menu neither work in an actual game. It's like Dophin doesn't know a Gamecube controller is "plugged in"?

How do I fix this?
