Emulate sys menu (4.2) = 003 Error

Sorry if this has been answered before, I searched for hours but couldn't find a definitive answer to this.

I've tried all builds of dolphin and can run Wii, GC, some dols, Wiiware and VC etc. However when I try to emulate the system menu (PAL 4.2) I get Error 003... Unauthorise devise detected.

So am I doing something wrong, or can system menu 4.2 not be emulated yet ?

Dolphin reports this error....
dolphin unknown entry type 6 inSYSCONF (IPL.TID@17ea)!
Now if I replace the SYSCONF with the original that comes with dolphin, I don't get any errors from dolphin, but still get the 003 Error.

I don't want to emulate a lower menu version, before someone suggests that.

btw, this emu rock, nice work team Wink

*EDIT* I didn't want to bump the thread, but I'm thinking no one knows how yet, if that's the case maybe someone can post and tell me it can't be done and we can start to figure out what is being checked by the system menu to give this error ??

Is system menu the same as where all the channels are? Like the Wii menu? I have a PAL and NTSC NAND dump and both work fine as of revision 4397 (Havn't tested any after that), mabye it's a bad dump?

Thanks for responding Smile

I don't quite understand what you mean by, can I ask what system menu are you emulating ? 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 ?

I've put the nand dump in the right place ( User/Wii ) I know this or I wouldn't get the error. I
know the nand dump is good as I can run it on the Wii with no problems. Maybe I should check the FS as some IOS are patched and matbe that#s the problem, but as I said the system menu causes no problems on the Wii, btw 003 error is new to menu ver 4.2, so if your not running 4.2 then you would never get that error.

Again thanks for replying and bumping my thread to the top so more people will hopefully come up with answers. I REALLY need to emulate the menu as I'm wanting to make some patches and test them out on the pc to save time from my normal methods of running them on the Wii, bricking and needing to reinstall my bootmii nand dump Tongue

No need for the sorry, your the only one to try to help so I really appreciate it a lot Smile

If you go into the Wii settings it will tell you in the top right corner.

I found a pic online of where to look (not my pic)

If it doesn't say 4.2 then you would never get "003 Error" as this was only introduced in that revision of the sys menu.
The 003 error is seen when changing the region of a Wii, so it's a bit strange to see it on dolphin.

Again thanks for taking time to respond Wink

np, im heading home so i'll get back to you in an hour or so, thanks for the image to show me where it is, i mean I could have probably found it myself but it's a lot easier if I know beforehand Wink
Ok so I went to Wii options and take a wild guess what happened.... black screen! Disc menu works, channels work, and the clock/calander etc work but when i try to go into Wii settings the screen just turns black and sits there Undecided

Edit Again: I have version 4.0 PAL and 4.1 NTSC, I was able to check with a hex editor, so I guess your question is still unanswered.. sorry man

No worries Bacon you've already tried to help and that's a great thing imho.

I can emulate other menu versions, but I'm really needing to get 4.2 working. No doubt someone will know the answer somewhere eventually I just hope this topic doesn't die or get burried under a lot of other posts.

Again thanks for trying and spending so much time at it Big Grin

The 003 Error was put there from Nintendo as either an anti piracy measure, or more likely a region change blocker.

I'm not sure what check it performs so ...grrrr

I've tried a lot now to get 4.2 menu running on dolphin including using a "clean virgin" 4.2 nand dump, and also one that has various patches to some IOS, nothing has worked so far. tbh I don't have that much time to trial and error everthything hence why I posted here (and on another few sites)

At least people on this site were brave enough to respond :p

Whoever figures this out first will be my hero Rolleyes

Hi All,

New user of Dolphin..

Followed the guide for creating a set of files from my BootMii back up.

Had an issue with DX that was stopping the plugins from loading, done a search and solved that..

Then finally get all the files in the right place and I get the 003 error.

I'm trying to emulate 4.2E, nothing outstanding about my system just the usual HBC stuff...

Any ideas ? TIA.
