I keep hearing that dx12 is supposed to make performance better, but it actually makes it ALOT worse in my case. In galaxy I'll drop to the high 30's at 1080p no AA. When I switch to OPENGL, I can go up to 4k without a hiccup.Im really curious if anyone else is having the same issue. I was using the newly released 5.0 build for these tests. PC specs: i7 6700k@4.0GHZ,GTX 1070, 16 gb DDR4 2400MHZ
Dx12 makes performance worse?

How about DX11? How is that one running for you?
With my specs I can run the game at 60 FPS at all times with 5x resolution, etc... So there must be something wrong with your system. Update graphics drivers and directX, etc.

Both my graphics drivers and direct x are up to date on the latest version, also forgot to mention that my OS is windows 10 if that helps. DX11 is a little better than DX12 but it still drops pretty often to the mid to high 50's on 1080p 2XMSAA. This isnt just on galaxy either, even on sunshine i got a couple frame drops here and there. Every game seems to run a ton better on OPENGL for me.

Try deleting your config files.

nope, still lags. After further testing, i also noticed that the lag happens randomly. Ill be standing in a spot and its fine for a minute, then it lags a minute later in the exact same spot for another minute, then it starts running fine again... really wierd

It's not really that weird. Nvidia cards are known to run considerably better on OGL than D3D.

That would make sense. I remember hearing someone say they acutually perform better on direct3d, guess that guy was wrong. Thanks for the info

Yet still: With your specs SMG should run like a breeze. I also got an nvidia card (not as strong as yours) and I never use OpenGL and like I said, I'm running the game super-smooth with 5x res, HD textures, etc.

Could be that my GPU came out recently, so the emulator might not be optimized for it as well as others?? I'm just taking a wild guess here

No. What's your GPU usage and clocks with dx12? If you haven't already done so, make sure your GPU is set to maximum performance in the NVIDIA CP.
