Is there a known way to dump and extract Wii ROMs from Wii U virtual console. (e.g. Xenoblade Chronicles)
I attempted to dump it with DDD, but from what I can tell, it hands control over to the vWii before loading the game itself, so DDD can't reach it.

you just need to install the homebrew channel in vWii mode, like you would a normal Wii (mostly, there are some differences for vWii)

Then put in the disc you want to dump, and run CleanRip in vWii homebrew channel

I'm aware of how to dump a Wii disc. What I'm asking is how to dump Wii virtual console like this.
(and I think this is the recommended guide for hacking the vWii these days as it doesn't require a game exploit)

AFAIK Wii titles re-released for Wii U are just the original versions running in vWii mode. So, the actual ISO file is stored somewhere on the NAND from Wii U side, not from vWii (as it would be too big to fit)...
Avell A70 MOB: Core i7-11800H, GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB DDR4-3200, Windows 11 (Insider Preview)
ASRock Z97M OC Formula: Pentium G3258, GeForce GT 440, 16 GB DDR3-1600, Windows 10 (22H2)

Hmm, I suppose I never tried to get to it with FTPiiU anywhere, that might be worth a shot.

so it looks like the ROM is split into 25 250Mb nfs files, should be usable if I can find a way to decrypt and join them

unfortunately, I cannot seem to copy any file through ftpiiu everywhere, any attempt just gives a generic ERR_FTP_FAILED error except for a couple small files while using edge

You should be able to use this to convert the VC releases: https://gbatemp.net/threads/semi-working...ck.455812/

But I've never done this myself, so I'm not sure exactly how it works.
