Need help mapping my DS4. I’m playing Madden NFL 2003 using a DS4 PlayStation controller. All the buttons work correctly but the left analog stick does not move the player fluidly. Particularly the Up Y Axis input, which registered as (Y-) and the Right X Axis input, which registered at (X+) as I mapped this controller.

I mapped it under DInput/0/Wireless Controller based on various tutorials I viewed on YouTube and the XInput/1/Gamepad did not function at all.

If anyone can suggest what’s causing these unbalanced inputs let me know.

If I can make a little more sense, it’s almost not registering the input, I almost cannot move the player on these inputs mentioned. It’s sluggish or the input is not fully engaging. Maybe the emulator doesn’t like DS4 with this game idk ?

Have you tried calibrating your controller?

Hi thanks for your reply. I have calibrated it. It just doesn’t have the same response over every axis. It has a limited movement when I move the player in this case “up” and “right”. Idk why it’s doing it. I haven’t tried any other games yet just this one so I can’t determine if it’s just this game or something else.

Please show a screenshot of your configuration. We can't tell you what's wrong without seeing it.

Does the red dot in the controller configuration move around normally when moving your left stick?

Yes it does. I tested it out on two additional games; one was Metroid Prime and NCAA Football 2003. Metroid Prime, I did not notice input issues using the same controller and configuration. And NCAA it played better I didn’t notice much input deficiency it was definitely better than Madden NFL 2003. But maybe a slight input issue if there was. I played a lot of sports titles on the GC and I know how they perform at least on the consoles and it makes the game unplayable when the movement input isn’t working properly. It works best using the D Pad right now for me but playing sports games without the joysticks drops off your skill significantly. This is only for the PS4 controller I’m using. It probably works better with Xbox controllers I assume.

It could be the game is expecting more range out of the control stick.
As a workaround, after calibration, right click the mapping button for each direction and set the range to 120 from the default 100.
The red dot should now move beyond the octagon slightly. Don't recalibrate.
See if it helps the game.
