Does this happen in the latest dev build of Dolphin?

This might be one of those USB problems that happen on Windows but not other operating systems...

i did some testing with the latest build as of now being 5.0-5328
sing 4: the hits edition - only detects one microphone when two are plugged in, both microphones worked when they were plugged in without the other, inserting a microphone while the game was running caused dolphin to crash. I made sure to check if both usb ports i used functioned, which they did.

just dance 2017 - crashes on boot when a microphone is plugged in
just dance 2016 - loads but crashes after 30 seconds
guitar hero 5 - crashes nearly immediately with a microphone plugged in
def jam rapstar - crashes immediately with microphones plugged in, renders the game unplayable on dolphin. works perfectly without microphones plugged in, except for the parts of the game when you have to rap
we sing encore - crash on launch, however it does launch and detect 2 microphones on 5.0 - 2833
lets sing 2017 (the french version) - boots, works but only detects a single microphone

both of my microphones function correctly on wii and wii u

Well, I don't think a virtual machine will work here, so you'll have to do an actual install of a Linux system (can't install the required files on a live USB).

I'd recommend you grab a spare hard drive for this if you don't want to mess with your windows install drive.
Then, go download the latest version of Ubuntu 16.04, and Rufus. Install Ubuntu to the flash drive using Rufus.
Turn off your desktop, swap hard drives, insert USB, follow boot options and install Ubuntu.
Then you have two choices:
-build dolphin from scratch (aka get the latest dev build): https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Building_Dolphin_on_Linux
-install a repository: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Installing_Dolphin

i already configured ubuntu earlier today but i ran into an issue of the nouveau driver causing crashes during booting. also my resolution is locked to 640x480 and after installing nvidia drivers and having a normal resolution dolphin "failed to initialize video backend" when using opengl
i installed ubuntu 16.04.3 on an old 120 gb ssd
ideas?

i'll make a seperate thread of this

okay so i figured it out and these are the results on ubuntu

we sing encore - detects both microphones
sing 4: the hits edition - only detects one microphone
let's sing 2017 (french version) - only detects one microphone
def jam rapstar - only one microphone
no crashes but great input lag which in def jam rapstar amounted to 240 ms
