I wasn't able to find any mention of this particular topic which is why I'm making a thread. As far as I know, it is not possible to record a .dtm (TAS) file while using a real Wii remote. I also noticed that when making the emulator display button inputs, it only shows them when it's on an emulated controller. If I am correct in assuming that there is no way to record with a real controller, I would appreciate if anyone could give me a simple explanation why it's like that, and also if it can/will be changed in the future.

Why would you want to use a real wiimote? (unless something like wii motion plus I guess)

I'm not interested in making a TAS. I just wanted to record some multiplayer games at full speed and use the .DTM file to play back the input and record in a higher resolution (which is too slow on my computer for playing normally). While you could play bowling, for example, with a gamepad, it's just not the same experience as using a real Wii remote. The same can be said of anything involving furiously shaking the Wii remote. Also, Wii motion plus, as you mentioned, is another consideration.

I have the same problem, I wanted to test something in a game, but it auto-switches to 'Emulated Remote'.

You can't do a TAS with a real wiimote.

Yes, I figured.
Is there a reason for this?
