Does DSPLLE on thread affect DSPHLE? if so what? does it make it faster, buggier, ect.?
DSPLLE on thread

Can anyone recommend a build to try with in? I was hopping it would improve my DSP LLE performance, but I can't get a game to start with it on in any build I've tried.

Games sometimes hang on startup with dsplle on thread and dsp lle recompiler. It's a well known issue that has yet to be fixed.

Ah, yeah I had seen it mentioned before, but I littlerally couldn't get a game to start with it on even once in any revision I'd tried. However, having just tried yet again, Mario Galaxy 2 started up, and the option seemed to speed things up a little.

Did you try it with dsp lle interpreter?

I just tried five times, and Dolphin went not responding every time until I turned DSP LLE on thread off, three of five times not even making it far enough to put up the yellow text at the start. Using Xtreme2damax's r7120M x64 SSE 4.2 build. Is there a chance I'd be better off with LLE interpreter given the right configuration?

I tried it another five times with SMG2, this time using r7128 x64 with all default settings except DSP LLE on thread and DSP LLE interpreter selected, and the game window freezes just after starting every single time. So again, I'm curious; how might I be better off with it if I actually find a configuration which works?

DSP on thread must be used with the LLE recompiler to work. The DSP on thread + LLE interpreter combination has a bug in it which prevents the game from starting.
