I HATE not being able to play mario galaxy 1-2 on my 4.3ghz amd phenom II 1600T. Why cant the developers code dolphin to work better with AMD Cpus, not just my request but others too. Sad Im not getting an intel processor just to switch over to nvidia and intel hardware.
PCSX2 works just fine with AMD
PPSSPP also works fine with AMD
Every other emulator works fine with my CPU but not DSP-LLE.
I went on the dolphin wiki page for Mario galaxy 1 and one of the test entries was a 5.033GHZ AMD phenom II 960T. I wish I could overclock that high. But I don't know if I should believe that anyways common a 5ghz phenom II. I hit my limits at the 4.3ghz wall even with liquid cooling i couldn't go any higher. Even With 1.65volts.
I wish dolphin didn't need low level emulation LLE. Sony emulators don't even use such a thing. Project 64 even used LLE.

Super Mario Galaxy without music sucks currently with LLE am getting 50fps and lower. Dsp On thread doesn't do anything to help I think its pointless and is only for intel.

Dolphin should be for everybody to enjoy not just intel users.

Well anyways that's all ,thanks for reading

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what I refer to as "irony".

See, it was complainers with similar tempo to this one that attacked delroth after the New-AX-HLE merger, raving about how the change made things worse on their crappy CPUs. This made him mad and so he did not continue his work into the Zelda-Ucode, so DSP LLE is still required for games like Mario Galaxy. Here we are a year later, and now we have a whiner who is complaining about DSP-LLE, insulting the devs for not fixing it sooner. Of course, if whiners hadn't attacked delroth a year ago, we'd have the New-Zelda-HLE and there would be no need for DSP LLE in Mario Galaxy. Fascinating.

Moral of this story? Stop attacking developers you freakin morons. As the saying goes, "don't bite the hand that feeds you". They are doing this on their own free time because they enjoy it. If you make it not fun, they can just as easily not work on it.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:Why cant the developers code dolphin to work better with AMD Cpus

The problem isn't Dolphin, it's just that AMD's current CPUs are a terrible match for the specific type of workload Dolphin is doing. Dolphin relies greatly on single-threaded performance, which AMD's current CPUs are generally very weak in this regard.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:PCSX2 works just fine with AMD

Dolphin is not PCSX2

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:PPSSPP also works fine with AMD

Dolphin is not PPSSPP.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:Every other emulator works fine with my CPU but not DSP-LLE.

Not every other emulator is Dolphin. More seriously, why do you assume that every emulator acts in a similar manner? The methods it takes to properly emulate a Gamecube are going to be vastly different than the methods it takes to properly emulate a PSP, or an SNES, or a Game Boy. Different systems require different approaches.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:I wish dolphin didn't need low level emulation LLE.

It would be great if LLE were optional or as an option kept as documentation of the original HW.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:Dsp On thread doesn't do anything to help I think its pointless and is only for intel.

DSP LLE on Thread has widely been observed not to be effective in Zelda microcode games. SMG 1 & 2 are two such games. DSP LLE on Thread may also have become less effective in recent builds anyway (since some stuff relating to VS2013 or whatever).

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:Dolphin should be for everybody to enjoy not just intel users.

Dolphin is for everyone (with the minimum requirements anyway), just not everyone can enjoy it fullspeed consistently. It's a demanding application that needs beefy hardware that meets specific performance metrics; there's no getting around that.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:Your a developer aren't you so why not do something,

Because she doesn't have to. The developers each work on their own areas of interest. If DSP emulation isn't her thing (or any developer's) it simply doesn't get looked into.

Lumbeeslayer Wrote:And my cpu is not crappy dolphin's horrible optimizations are aka DSP-LLE

You CPU has horrible single threaded performance. Dolphin needs lots of single-threaded performance. This has been widely know for at least a few years now.

This thread will go nowhere. It ends now.
