Dsound was getting old, and was removed. As Kurausukun said, if Xaudio2 is crashing, its' probably a system error on your end. You should check Windows update for any recommended or optional updates. Also, if you're on Windows 8, there is a known issue with Xaudio2 and certain sound cards. To fix that, either update to windows 8.1 or use OpenAL
