DS4 Disconnecting After a Few Minutes

I use a DS4 as an Xinput controller through DS4Windows. The controller runs fine and is recognised as Xinput but after a few minutes of play the controller disconnects and won't reconnect without a full PC reboot.

The strange thing is that it disconnects my Bluetooth keyboard too!

The controller works perfectly fine with all other games (including games launched through Steam) and emulators.

Anyone else have this issue?

I'm using the latest DS4Windows (1.4.16, think), my motherboard drivers are up to date, as is Windows 10. I'm using the onboard Bluetooth on my Asus Z87 Pro mobo.

I've tried switching on DS4Windows Exclusive Mode to no avail. I've even done a full uninstall/reinstall...

Annoyingly, I don't have access to a BT dongle to try that out and I'm loathe to spend money on something that may not work anyway...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Smile

DS4Windows has an issue report that sounds just like this. It's still open and seems unaddressed, so um, I don't know if there is any solution at this time. :/

I guess you can switch to the SCPToolkit. I know from personal experience that it doesn't have this issue!

Thanks for the reply.

I saw that there were a lot of issues on the Jay2Kings build but I was under the impression that a new dev had taken over since Windows 10 came out and fixed that particular problem... Oh well, it seems not. Sad

The one thing that perplexes me, though, is why is it only Dolphin that is affected for me these days? I'm not saying there's an issue with Dolphin as such but perhaps there's some weird conflict happening?

If all else fails, I think I'll give SCPToolkit a try. I used that a long time ago and I remember it not have rumble function for me. I'd kinda miss that if I had to go back! Smile

Just bumping to see if anyone else has any suggestions as to the cause. Like I say, I only have this issue with Dolphin. Is there a workaround?

An Xbox controller, Steam controller, keyboard/mouse controls? (A) any controller that doesn't need to jump through hoops to be connected to a PC.

Joking aside, have you tried using it in DirectInput mode?

Heh. Yeah, I know. I've had so many controllers over the years and I don't think I've been 100% happy with any of them... always some issue or other!

RE DirectInput: I'm not sure. I thought that that what Exclusive mode was? If so, then, yes, I've tried that. Smile

I can't tell you how utterly frustrating it is to have a great PC for running GC games in full 1080p glory and not being able to control them for more than 2 minutes! Still, these things are sent to try us, eh? Smile
