Doubt about PC game

Hi all.

It's been a while since I finished a PC game. These have become very heavy in terms of HDD space and hardware-demanding in the last years. But there's one I'm interested in, Alice: Madness Returns, since I played the previous game.

I don't know wether going for it or not, though. Mi rig is not that fast (my only reference being Dolphin emu itself), so I come to ask the experts. I only know PC games use to behave different than emulated games. Do you think my rig could run Alice? I don't seek highest resolutions or definition, just acceptable details and not too much lag...

EDIT: Do Windows updates (and Service Pack 1) have some influence on PC games and Dolphin performance?

sure it wont look pretty but it'll be playable i guess.

updates? not really but you should install them any way, win7 sp1 just contains all previous updates.

I already knew that, it's just minimum specs are often not that specific. Sometimes just tell what models are compatible but not "how much compatible". I ran Doom 3 on Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, ATI Radeon 9200 SE and 1 Gb DDR and it ran very laggy, that's why I asked. But thanks.

And curiously the only way Windows Update shows SP1 among the list is installing all those *previous* updates first...

alice is a very unoptimized game. at times, there will be millions of physx particles and these will slow your game down heavily regardless of any configuration file tweaking.

it is a good game though =D

What's your point? Do you mean slowdowns will be unavoidable because of Alice's unoptimized nature and Physx or because of my graphics card?
And if it's because of Physx, would it be handy to turn it off? Although I don't know how to do it from the Nvidia Control Panel, I can't find an option for Physx. I have my Nvidia drivers updated.

Well...It's a laptop . Nvidia 8600GT (desktop) is huge faster than Nvidia 8600M GT(laptop)

I think Nvidia 8400 (desktop) could beat it ,the minimum req is for desktop graphic card anyway
