[Done!]Modding the sensor bar to USB powered

Well, I was going mad when I could not make my genuine sensor bar to work. All tutorials told me to twist the yellow wire of the sensor bar to the silver wire of the USB cable. But in fact it must be the black wire, not silver. Unfortunately, I had to add a 1.5v battery for it to work. Looks like my sensor bar has 10 LEDs.

It is now working, but sometimes the cursor is hard or even uncontrollable. I think it still needs some more power. So I'm considering remove some LEDs to make it work with 5v from the USB port as some tutorials suggest. I need some more info before working on it:

1. How many LEDs should I remove?
   
2. What is the side-effect of doing so?
   

Please help as I am starting my work soon.

Edit: I figure out the cursor problem. It is because I placed the sensor bar under my laptop screen and I sat too close.

It's better to swap resistors for weaker ones than to bypass LEDs, as many LEDs are used because the viewing angles aren't enough to properly cover the sides, meaning the wiimote won't be able to see the bar from certain angles.

What type of resistor is in my sensor bar and what type I should use to replace the old one? Sorry to ask this but I don't even know what resistor is. But I must know what type of resistor to replace, so I can ask my uncle do it for me. Thank you.

Edit: I found that as long as the red wire from the USB cable is connected to the red one of the sensor bar, it works no matter what. That is, the yellow wire of the sensor bar can be connected to ANY other wires of the USB cable, ranging from black, white, green, the silver one that covers all wired, to the no-cover one that contains only steel. I don't know if there is problem connecting them wrong though.

A friend of mine told me that even if the resistors were removed, there was still not enough voltage for the LEDs. So I kept all of them to avoid undesired side effects or breaking it. I succeeded at last. Anyway, here is my work after a busy day:

An extra 1.2 volt battery is required to power that thing. It refuses to run at 5 volts.

The hardest and most time consuming part was creating a battery holder. I spent more than an hour asking nearby stores but none had it for sale. Luckily I had a broken radio, and I modded the tripple slot battery taken from it to a single slot one. Everything is fine now.
