I just bought a Dolphinbar to use as a sensor bar, but didn't know until I received it that it doesn't work unless the Wiimote is connected to it. Is there currently any way around this? I'm using my motherboard's BT for passthrough and hoping to get an actual Wii BT module to use for accurate emulation, but my old wireless sensor bar died. If I have no choice but to return it, what is really good sensor bar to buy?

As you have discovered newer versions of the Dolphinbar will not power on the LEDs unless a remote is connected. Apparently older bars were burning out too quickly.
Basically any sensor bar will work. It's just an array of LEDs. 08-31-2020, 08:36 AM
With some basic soldering skills you can easily mod a Dolphin Bar to have the IR LEDs always on. However, if you won't use any of the other Dolphin Bar features besides the IR tracking, getting a normal sensor bar is much more cheaper and will work the same...

I bought mine with the intent to buy a oem remote for bt passthru. There were no cheaper options in canada at least on amazon.
Looks like ill i have to order in a different bar when i get a new remote. im not stressed tho, just means one of my friends will have a discounted wii setup for their pc in the future lol 09-01-2020, 07:13 AM

Unfortunately I don't know how to solder, although I would like to learn. I'm just going to send it back and get a plain usb powered bar. |
