Dolphinbar Firmware won't update

Hello there,

Background:
I have been a successful Dolphin user in the past and it's a neat bit of software. Unfortunately I left my old controller (original Wii release) with a battery in it, which tragically destroyed it.
I have now felt a renewed desire to use this software once more, so I ordered a new Wiimote from Nintendo.

Issue/ TL;DR :
My new Wiimote is a Wii Remote Plus (RVL-CNT-01-TR) - https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...tion_Guide - which means that I need to install the latest firmware: Wireless Sensor DolphinBar MAYFLASH DolphinBar Upgrade Firmware Ver04 - http://www.mayflash.com/Support/Download/

Unfortunately there is some issue with doing this, which leads to the error: "It's a different product, the firmware is not matched, Cant update it!"

I can see that a fellow Dolphin enthusiast has had the same issue on this forum but it is currently unanswered - https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-ca...dolphinbar

Questions:
- Is anyone aware of exactly what the issue is?
- Is there a work around or a resolution?
- If a buy a new dolphin bar will it resolve it? I don't want to splash out only to have the same problem occur.

Have you tested that the Wii Remote doesn't work even though you haven't updated the firmware, or did you just read somewhere that you would need to update the firmware? (I can't find any mention of needing to update the firmware in the wiki page that you linked.)

Yes, of course.

The Wii Remote connects on modes 1-3 of the DolphinBar. I can use it as a mouse and as a gamepad, for example.

If I set it to mode 3, then change the settings (set it to Real Remote) and then switch it to mode 4, initially it connects (the controller vibrates) but then it errors (the controller switches off and won't turn back on for 5 seconds).

Then Mayflash approached us about it, asking if we could work together to address the problems of the DolphinBar. The developers discussed its shortcomings with them, mainly the lack of -TR support, and what had changed in the emulator. Surprisingly, they were able to add -TR support very quickly via a firmware update. And with their help, and some excellent work by delroth, we were able to fix the bug that was preventing the DolphinBar from connecting with Dolphin. As of 4.0-2241 and that DolphinBar firmware update, all of the DolphinBar's compatibility issues have been resolved!

Have you tried disconnecting all USB devices (except keyboard/mouse) before trying to apply the firmware update? Perhaps the firmware update utility is wrongly picking another USB device as it says "It's a different product"...
