Does it matter? I don't think anyone would be able to know since they've been being developed for quite some time/

Moreover there's no competition between these emulators.
Both are excellent. That's all we can say Big Grin

From my experience, PCSX2 is incompatible with everything. Out of all the games I own, two will boot, and neither are playable, even after iterating through every setting in the emulator. I had to 'legitimately acquire' the NTSC version of Star Wars Battlefront 2, even though I already have the PAL version. It also took me a whole 2 weeks to softmod my PS2 enough to get a legitimate copy of the BIOS. I have a tonne of modified disks with homebrew replacing various components, of which only one actually worked, and it only worked once, and when I say worked, I mean I got 3 seconds of homebrew before the console realised it was running homebrew and quit.

i had the opposite experiance of this guy^^

all my games worked even if they had massive slowdowns. (back when i had my Phenom II x4 955).

now i play literally everygame on the latest stable release with no speedhacks except MTVU just fine full speed except for really badly coded games.

for except Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift.

that game is an abomination to emulate properly still and most of the racing games have minor problems.

Yea, like Metal Gear Solid 3, Ratchet and Clank 1-3, Jak and Dexter, and Shadow of the Colosses. They do not run fullspeed all the time on my computer (higher overclock than yours) and require speedhacks. Plus they have to be in software mode to avoid severe glitches and missing effects, which forces it down to 1x native. If the emulator can't provide any enhancements, why not just run them on the freakin console? PCSX2 doesn't support any form of shaders in hardware mode, which means the number of games that require software to play accurately is mindbloggly high. Normally I would forgive this as just being early in it's development, but the coders for the project seems quite happy with this scenario...

And AnyOldName3 had a very legitimate point: softmodding a PS2 is a pain in the butt. Of course if you pirate that isn't a problem...

can you really compare the two emulators? i mean both emu support different games and the wii is more new and i can imagine its more complex that aside dolphin also supports gamecube pcxs2 only supports ps2 not ps1 something to think about here Undecided

also i would inderstand if you were to compare another wii/gamecube emu to dolphin but ps2 emu is a whole different thing i guess

Well he's just asking which one is the most popular. So that really has nothing to do with comparing their complexity, compatibility, or backwards compatibility. Also I highly doubt the Wiis core hardware (cpu, memory controller, gpu, caches, etc.) is more complex than the PS2s.

I'm pretty sure there are no statistics about this anywhere or any way to track it for that matter since people download emus from many different sites.

well if it comes down to which one is more popular it really depends on what games you like also it comes down to which emu is more compatible with games

That still has nothing to do with popularity. Popularity is how many people are using the emulator.

He's asking for the number of people who have downloaded each emulator.
