I am playing RE4 (GC) and have verified the MD5 hash of the game. I am using the reg key to ensure the local saves of games...here is the saves reg key I ran:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dolphin Emulator]
"LocalUserConfig"="1"

I am using 4.0-6054 and the issue is that I can save my game and the game (and Dolphin text) says that it is saved. I check the mem card file in Windows and the file itself has the right written date but if I try to load the game, it says there are no saves available......

The path it saves the mem card to is solid and full rights have been given to the location (owner is "everyone" with all permissions given)...

but when I try to reload the save game Dolphin says there are no saves...

If I go into mem card manager it says the save is there...sooooooo. why cant I use it?

No cheats or save states were used in my testing.

Thoughts?

Try using a GCI Folder; they tend to work better in my experience.

I'm fairly sure there should only be one system data file.

Forgive my ignorance... can you elaborate?

You are making alot of sense, but those were created by the game. Any other insight?

You can switch from using a virtual memory card to using a GCI folder by going to the GC configuration tab and changing the first memory card to the GCI folder option. Dolphin will then save GCI files directly to a folder instead of writing them to a .raw file.

Did you create your virtual memory card ahead of time, or did you let Dolphin create it when you were playing the game? You could also try deleting your MemoryCardA.USA.raw file, then using the memory card manager to create a new card with the same name before you play the game. It might be able to save correctly if the memory card already exists.

I think it screwed up and you should delete one (or both) of them.

OK so GCI is unfortunately doing the same thing. I create a brand new mem card and formatted it with Dolphin. The same saves and everything looks fine until I reload the game and it sees no saves....other thoughts?

Try 4.0.2 or an old development build to see if the problem persists? Maybe it's a bug with the latest development version. If an old version works, try to find the specific revision where the bug started so the developers know where to look to be able to fix the problem. You should also try saving another game to make sure that it works. If you can't save in any games, then it's probably not a bug with the build you're using.

So it does indeed work with 4.0.2. Let me see if i can get to the bottom of this Smile

Here is what I found out so far...
If I put the memcard created and saved by the latest INTO 4.0.2, it sees no saves in game.

If I put the memcard created by 4.0.2 INTO the latest, then it works fine...
Also any saves after this work like a champ so perhaps it is the creation of the initial memcard that is messed up?

Working versions:
4.0.2
3806
5022
5603

Hmmm, the latest works fine for Mario Golf Toadstool Tour...perhaps it is an issue with the game needing a system save file?

Final Edit:
I guess my download of Dolphin was corrupt? After all that testing and finding no issues, I redownloaded the latest and now I dont have the issue...so...I guess...I am stupid Smile
